Coney Beach Fairground has long stood as a site of collective memory, joy, and tradition, shaping family’s experiences across generations. For over a century, it functioned not only as a place of entertainment but as a cultural landmark rooted in community and continuity. Its closure in October 2025, after 107 years, marks the end of an era and the beginning of an uncertain transformation, as the space gives way to large-scale redevelopment. The fairground’s origins in 1918 coincide with the introduction of workers’ holidays, particularly the “Miners’ Fortnight,” when families from across South Wales gathered by the sea. This project reflects on the fragile nature of heritage, exploring how places of leisure become vessels of identity, and how their disappearance reshapes both personal and collective histories.
